Lads to Leaders

Lads to Leaders is a well-established program that has been around for over 50 years. The main purpose of Lads to Leaders is to equip our boys and girls to become church leaders of the future. It allows our young men the opportunity to stand before a church and practice leading others through songs, scripture reading, and devotionals. Our young ladies are given similar opportunities in class and split services to hone their skills.

If you’re just not comfortable leading in front of groups, you can engage in several other activities. The Good Samaritan activity focuses on serving others. This is not limited to only kids, but whole families can participate. This is based on hours of service and tasks you complete for others. While we like to practice our good deeds in private and not for our glory, it’s a good way to adopt a mindset of service. Our church sponsored service events count toward these hours as well.

Puppets is a favorite of many at Valley View. For those who want to perform, this is a great avenue - even for those who’d rather not show their face. Through the use of puppets, kids work together to tell a story based on a biblical concept. Many times, just through sheer repetition, the impact of the concept is greatly impressed upon them.

Another activity we want to more strongly emphasize is the Centurion of Scripture, which encourages the memorization and recitation of 100 verses. At Valley View, this is aided by a mentorship with an older person of the congregation.

Besides activity for kids, WHY do we do this?

Involvement in the church is clearest way for our youth to adopt the gospel and the principles of Christ into their lives, and REMAIN a faithful Christian after they leave their parents. Left on their own, more than half of kids leave the church when they’re grown. With involvement in L2L, it seems around 85% of the youth continue to keep the church central to their lives.

The world wants your children, but Christ wants them more. Give them every chance they can to remain faithful and become future leaders in the church.
